Almost forgot the great place where brilliant young minds meet

Almost forgot the heart pumping feeling before receiving the grades

Almost forgot the bravado feeling after writing your own views in thousand of words

Almost forgot the feeling of carefree-ness

Almost forgot the late nights before the exam day

Almost forgot the joy that there are so much to learn

Almost forgot the anticipation to get out to the real world to make our own mark

The other’s

December 29, 2005

Quote : "People’s fault is so plain & clear in my eyes yet I am so blind to my countless faults" - author unknown

As I constantly remind myself that it is so easy to spot people’s fault & so difficult to spot my own, I found that it is actually a norm among people around us and in every event there is.

I recalled during my wedding preparations in Jan this year.. many comments, ‘advices’ and the like were poured to us, pointing out this should has been done & MUST be done.. - and it was less ‘merciful’ that it was unintentional and just plain forgotten. It could have been a stressful event if I am not by nature who can just "let go" as long as I know my conscience is clear & I already did my best to my knowledge. For the past 2 weekends, attending my sis-in-law’s wedding, I found the very folks who gave us advice on what should have been done & not done - have not do what should have been done cos really - unintentionally forget! I thought that as very amusing that how the very people who have the most "say" seems to be less forgiving to other’s mistakes while expect other’s to be VERY understanding to their mistake as unintentional.

Which again brings me back to remind myself time & again that - realised that it is so easy to see other’s fault so let’s not ‘pick’ on things, why don’t I use that ‘energy’ by correcting my own realised & unrealised (yet) faults?

The Never ending contradiction or just really ‘the balance’?

December 23, 2005

Human beings are so hard to comprehend yet so easy to understand. It is like you know money is not everything yet it is everything. It is also like when one gets his dreams but loses everything (yes.. some people call it sacrifice or the price to pay). There’s food that tastes great but bad for your body, needless to say when they taste so-so, it is suppose to be good for your health! (=P)
With China joining the world economy years ago, consumer goods prices decreases yet the consumer debt sky rocketed. The great technology that help connect people far & wide but there seems less communication at home - most too busy checking out their e-mails. Today’s youth now are so much smarter compared with those 20 years ago (go check the books they now use in school!) but they seem to have less compassion & empathy.
Notice how we have all the faster (& faster) transportation, e-gadgets to help us travel & work yet we still do not have enough time to spend with our love ones.
The list goes on & on, everything seems to have a upside -downside, good -bad or more - less.
Are all these needed for the balance of this human realm? Buddha always remind to take the middle path, not too much of this or the other. Looks like he is right afterall…

Categories of meetings

November 24, 2005

I’m just checking through my calendar & realised that I spent at least 7 hours a week in either telecon or meetings.. really - from the many meetings - i can actually categorise them..

Type A : Meeting to meet my deliverables. This is top on my list - really - i lead the meeting so to meet my objective- usually it is very effective cos it is narrowed down with specific agenda.

Type B : Meeting to provide update on my status to reach my deliverables. I guess we need this in the corporate world - else how can we go far ?

Type C : Meeting to know about the business health Seriously - it can be boring when they talk about stuff that doesn’t concern you, but I guess more of leadership observation , decision making process which will help in my future growth

Type D : Meeting to report to the ‘bigger boss’ This is important too cos we update the boss’s boss on work.. we got to present that we are doing stuff & improving .. the blah blah so that we might get a chance on being rated a star ?

Type E : Meeting of the bigger ‘family’ I found this the most waste of time.. its just pep talk - what do i learn ? what do i gain? all the good news, all the good things so & so done..

Type F : Socialising session For me.. this is the most important to stay sane - b**** about work , talk about holidays or plan for them.
