strings of bad luck….

July 29, 2008

All of us have bad luck and good luck. The man who persists through the bad luck - who keeps right on going - is the man who is there when the good luck comes - and is ready to receive it.

Robert Collier quotes (American motivational author, 1885-1950)

Feeling down in my luck since yesterday. So.. 加油 !!

desperate enough…

July 28, 2008

The people are suffering - even resort to robbing the poor . Read news reported > sorry robber steals van

So while even the poor suffers getting rob, our police are busy fabricating evidence to bring down opposition leader (read latest article & proof by RPK) & not to mention those traffic police ~ hiding behind trees (true account- found them at the main road Senai main traffic junction) at traffic junctions to ‘catch’ the good people who beat the red traffic light by 1 second.

Yes.. the people are getting desperate. The poor rob the poor, the law enforcers lie then cheat & the good  getting nabbed for beating the traffic light by a second.

Desperate enough indeed.. The poor robs because in need to survive, the law enforcers lie so that they can stay ‘rich’ & employed while the road law enforcers catch the good so that the good people can provide supplement income to the high cost of living in M’sia.

So.. who can we blame?

obligation or empathy

July 23, 2008

I was debating with myself on Monday if I should go visit a sick relative in the hospital. At the end I went but what was the winning argument in going - I still do not know.

As I think back, my argument of not going revolves around - “‘m not that close to her”, “it will take so much time going there”, “I have to work tomorrow morning, there will be bad traffic jam”.. basically the arguments were all very selfish & cold. The other side of the arguments were “she’s so old now”, “we have company to go together”, “she would feel good if someone visits her”, “how could i be so cold” - she is afterall a relative.

So I went. Not like the sick aunt finds my company any interesting.. kept quiet most of the time while she & dad talked. Which brings me back to the question again - why do I need to be there?

Not even sure if its obligation because its family or because I have an actual ‘true’ empathy. But if i’m asking this question - its pretty obvious that “emotion” is not playing a very ‘big’ part here.

the mature mind seeks to follow through”

I thought & I hope

I start & I paused

I remain & I change

an actual account on how RM150,000 can be syphoned into somebody’s account..

July 17, 2008

An actual account of the ‘corrupted’ govt. An SME takes on a project by which parts & materials needs to be purchased from the approved vendor list (AVL). Now - this is very normal practice as big corporates wants to ensure that suppliers / manufacturers uses the good grade materials that have shown reliability & not substandard ones. Of course the actual costs of these materials are known by the customer themselves ~ thus its not like the supplier can ’simply’ quote on project costs.  So everything is set in motion, both supplier & customer agrees on the costs & price of the goods & services ~ works is being executed.. but wa.. la… something real odd happen..

Though the SME ONLY buy from the AVL list as per customer’s instructions BUT in fact because the final ‘customer’ here is VERY much link to the M’sia’s Petronas.. it is SET that one of the AVL for a specific part MUST be ANOTHER supplier which was not in the actual AVL’s of the customer. The customer quickly informed the SME on learning this NEW! change of events.., so this SME quickly go about to get the quote from this ‘OTHER’ company on the same material…& guess what’s the price ? Obviously the price will not be less than double than the ‘original’ AVL supplier. Now - this OTHER company is actually co-owned by the oxford grad sitting at the 4th floor. The difference is only Rm150,000 for 1 material & yet Petronas just posted their best ever profit ~ it could have been much bestest best ever maybe.. ?

How is the customer going to compensate the difference to the SME is another matter.. but ultimately ~ it will find its way to claim from that National Petroluem company..

This is just a very very small event experienced and it costs RM150,000 just because of some ‘connection’ where we are talking about the exact same goods. Can you inmagine how much have been ‘lost’ due to this type of ‘compulsory’ vendors used? It has enrich those unemployed but linked to the govt officials people.. the rest of us (ordinary hardworking tax paying folks) needs to continue to work doubly hard to get the same quality of goods that our neighbour country enjoys.

So.. how can an ordinary hardworking individual like me not get upset & not feel like giving up… How?

sense & sensibility

July 16, 2008

A really good written piece .. read here. It has sense & sensibility. I couldn’t agree more on what’s written. We are not as passionate as Thais. We do what we can but when our patience wears out or if its starts to obstruct us in getting our usual comforts, well - we would stop there.

So there - we have cast our votes, so please let’s start governing & debate on real issues of the people.

not now …

July 15, 2008

How soon ‘not now‘ becomes ‘never’. Martin Luther quotes

Yes.. ‘not now’ has been on my mind for the past 2 days on just 1 specific task. Yes I dread doing this difficult task with such low return yet it is needed. Even making this blog entry is a form of ‘not now’ cause it gives me an excuse to do something else. But it is kind of scary when I read this quote.. ‘not now’ can turn into ‘never’ really quick….brrrr…
